Approving New Tasks

We opt to take a permissive approach for adding new tasks to To-Do lists.

  • Improving documentation is always encouraged
  • Improving test coverage is always encouraged
  • Use best judgment for other cases. If new item is not To-Do, decide between leaving it as No Status or off the board.
  • Open a Discussion for anything requiring discussion and convert to issue as appropriate.

Project Scale

Whether a task is its own project vs a subtask of a project depends on scale. Some projects are categories (Documentation, Testing, Code Standardization, Bugs). Other projects are large tasks (MHD, Dust). The overall goal is to manage the size of an individual project and the number of cards (sub-tasks) so that it does not become unwieldy.

We encourage the use of task lists in issues when appropriate. This allows many sub-tasks to be agglomerated into a single card, and issues can be moved across projects when needed.
