Colour
The Design System has two colour palettes: mutli use vs specific use colours.
Specific-use only colours are used sparingly in a limited number of components (e.g., alerts).
Multi-use colours can be used to style components that have flexible colour guidelines (e.g., a background colour).
The colour flexibility is indicated in each component documentation under the customization section.
We imported the Core GC Design Library colours into the Extended GC Design Library - DECD, then altered them by replacing the "functional names" with generic colour names. We also augmented the existing colours by including new shades. The full list of colours were grouped under multi- vs specific-use scenarios, which provides flexibility to future product designers.
