Hardware Issues

Silicon

The ethernet ports on this motherboard are probably broken. I setup an ethernet network share from my laptop to IllinoisNet and it was not working at first, but after some debugging it turned out to be due to the motherboard's ethernet ports not working. The issue was corrected by using a usb3 ethernet adapter. This will likely need to be done permanently. If you change which usb ethernet adapter is used make sure to edit /etc/networing/interfaces (the really [redacted] long one is the usb adapter). The bad USB ports are on the motherboard. The USB ports are not blue so will be limited to USB 2.0 speeds. It may be prudent to obtain a PCIe ethernet card for full speed ethernet.

EDIT: aaaand it worked in fedora. [redacted]

EDIT: we needed a proprietary firmware package. It works now in Debian. [redacted] CAPITALISM
