Here is the beginning of the prologue to Tom Robbins’ Still Life with Woodpecker. A lot of people love this book, but I don’t really care for it that much, and now that I’ve set you up to enjoy it, here it is:

If this typewriter can’t do it, then fuck it, it can’t be done.

This is the all-new Remington SL3, the machine that answers the question, “Which is harder, trying to read The Brothers Karamazov while listening to Stevie Wonder records or hunting for Easter eggs on a typewriter keyboard?” This is the cherry on top of the cowgirl. But something about the tone strikes me wrong, as if Aaron Sorkin read a bunch of Bukowski and is now talking to himself. Anyway, this text is fluffy like a Corgi.
