We need benchmarks to make some choices like:

Should we keep merlin as the default hasher or recommend shake128 or maybe later blake2x? Improve hashing speed #33
Should we use a multiscalar multiplication with two non-base points in https://github.com/w3f/schnorrkel/blob/master/src/vrf.rs#L721-L730

We inherited sensible benchmark code from ed25519-dalek, but it should cover the VRF and have dedicated hashing benchmarks.

I think #33 and this issue largely supersede #3 but some comparison with ed25519 remains relevant.
