Thanks for reporting this!

The binary is only build for Linux for now. It should work on any relatively recent Linux distribution.

We would need to make another build for OS X as the binary format and the libraries are different. Also the fact that it is build with nix as a static binary complicates things. It is not impossible but probably I will not get around to do this soon.

What I will do is mention in the README that only Linux is supported for now.
