Updating problem of phoebe via pip

Hey there,

I'm tying to update phoebe to latest version (from 2.4.11 to 2.4.14) via pip, but I'm getting a metadata error. Thus, I can't update to the latest version. I even have tried to uninstall and reinstall but couldn't manage it. Is there a way to fix this?

I've tried to use general command to update phoebe as suggested on the install page.

pip3 install -U phoebe

This looks like a common problem - can you try with pip3 install -U --use-deprecated=legacy-resolver phoebe or uninstalling and reinstalling phoebe?

I'm not sure what is causing this - it could be something in the phoebe metadata, but I can't seem to reproduce from a fresh install on my end.

Hi Kyle, the code you suggest didn't work either. I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling but didn't fix the problem.

I mean, updating phoebe is not a must, but I'm sure it will be a problem in the future.

you may want to try some of the other suggestions in that stackoverflow thread (and linked github issues) - let us know if any of those work so we can try to track down what might be wrong with the packaging or at least suggest the same solution if anyone else runs into the same problem. Thanks!

Well... I have managed to update phoebe to latest version, which is 2.4.14

All I need to do, update pip and wheel via

pip3 install --upgrade pip wheel
