README

Members of the OASIS Open Command and Control (OpenC2) TC create and manage technical content in this TC GitHub repository ( https://github.com/oasis-tcs/openc2-apsc-stateless-packet-filter ) as part of the TC's chartered work (i.e., the program of work and deliverables described in its charter).

OASIS TC GitHub repositories, as described in GitHub Repositories for OASIS TC Members' Chartered Work, are governed by the OASIS TC Process, IPR Policy, and other policies, similar to TC Wikis, TC JIRA issues tracking instances, TC SVN/Subversion repositories, etc. While they make use of public GitHub repositories, these TC GitHub repositories are distinct from OASIS TC Open Repositories, which are used for development of open source licensed content.

Description

The purpose of this repository is to provide configuration management and to aid in the development of the first generation OpenC2 firewall profile. Actuator profiles identify the aspects of the OpenC2 language specification that are mandatory and/or meaningful in the context of a given actuator. Actuator Profiles also identify specifiers and options that are unique to the actuator. This particular repository will focus on first generation packet filter firewalls.

The OASIS OpenC2 Actuator Profile Subcommittee "is responsible for creating and maintaining actuator profiles which define the OpenC2 message elements applicable to specific cyber defense functions. The OpenC2 language description is intended to be relatively stable as technology and product capabilities evolve. Profiles are intended both to segment the function space so that developers need not be concerned with message elements that do not apply to a specific actuator function, and to define the message elements needed to accommodate new functions. A profile will define the actions, targets, actuator specifiers, and modifiers that are mandatory to implement in order to claim conformance with the profile, as well as optional elements that are meaningful in the context of the profile."
