This page lists every frequently asked questions. Please note that Crossverse Eight is in early concept stage, and release date is unknown. Consider this like Valve time and don't expect anything until further information.

What is this?

Crossverse Eight is the project to achieve what 2022 SF game's original PvE would be for applying similar concepts and plans into the game server.

It is based on Obsidian Conflict with SourceMod.

Why did you plan this project?

There was a event named Blizzcon 2019 and 2021 by Blizzard Entertainment, and it mainly showcased the new project, named Overwatch 2. It featured the PvE and leveling system. According to Aaron Keller the concept of this system was from Project Titan, a cancelled MMORPG game made by Team 4 of Blizzard Entertainment.

However, as of May 2023 the PvE game that planned was no more as Blizzard announced the cancellation of the Hero Missions, leveling and talent system and only Story Mission survived.

After couple of months, Story Missions got released. And the result was horrible. Only some people played it and it was total failure. It is just a continuation of Overwatch with just No.2 next to the name.

And finally, Mar 23, 2024. The Blizzard made decision to shift focus on PvP rather than PvE due to failure of Overwatch 2 Invasion mission pack, and most of PvE developers got fired due to recent lay-offs.

Originally, I was certain that I wanted to quit making the game server, as I had lack of money hosting the server due to TF2C, and most of all, Team Fortress: Source 2 got DMCA'd by Valve. But now, situation has changed. I wanted to try again. I now have clear goal in mind.

And this project was born: Crossverse Eight.

What's the meaning of project name Crossverse Eight?

'Crossverse Eight' is the squadron that are from various multiverse, such as Toonrun universe, Half-Life universe, Daikon universe and more. As Obsidian Conflict is basically Sven Co-op with Source engine and you are free to change skins, I've made setting that you are playing as one of member of the squadron, to explore various worlds that you haven't seen and accoplishing your missions.

The concept of the name was from one of EnhancedMod classic, named 'Multiverse Madness'.

Which server will be located on?

Singapore, for now. Other servers such as NA/EU are not considered as of moment as I want to keep this server as a hobby project of mine.

Will it be paid?

No. Unlike 2022 SF game, you will always be free to play.

How is this server moderated?

There is no moderation on the server unlike before. However, people can request votekick to kick out of the player temporarily.

Roon still reserves right to ban people who is excessively being nuisance to others, cheating, directly attacking the server. So don't do that or you get bonked out of the server.
