Minimum and Maximum Temperatures

Hi Arnold and community,
I successfully integrated my old Daikin heatpump (model FBQ50B8V1).
I was playing around with Thermostat card using the climate.hc_setpoints_setpoint_cooling entity and I see there is something like an hardcoded range of 14-28 Celsius degrees while my model can work in the range 16-32.

I looked on Home Assistant forum and I found two hints here

First one is to work on [path_to_homeassistant]/lib/[python_version]/site-packages/homeassistant/components/climate/__init__.py but here I found I have default values (7-35)

so I tried the second hint and added the customize.yaml file with

climate.hc_setpoints_setpoint_cooling:
    max_temp: 32
    min_temp: 16
climate.hc_setpoints_setpoint_heating:
    max_temp: 32
    min_temp: 16

this last one changed the behaviour of the card showing my desired range but if I try to set e.g. 29 degrees a popup error message appears and I see same message into logs

ERROR (MainThread) [homeassistant.components.websocket_api.http.connection] [546373553600] Provided temperature 32.0 is not valid. Accepted range is 14.0 to 28.0

so my questions are:

• is the range something you set on your side?
• if yes, is it customizable or how can I change it?
• does anyone had same issue?

Hi Davide,

The min/max are set by the P1P2MQTT bridge in the MQTT config message. For E-series, the min/max values are obtained (and updated) from the field settings. For F-series, min/max is indeed hard-coded in the ESP code at 14/28, which was just a guess from my side. I will change it to 16/32 in the next release - if someone observes other min/max values, please let me know.

Not sure if HA documents what happens if there are min/max values in the yaml file which differ from the provided min/max values in the config msg.

If you do so, can you also update the F-series, my F-series heater can go up to 31 (from what I can see with the OEM controller)

@Tmbao - I'll update it for all F-series (you have F-series model 11, Davide has F-series model 10, so if your OEM controller's max is correct, the max could differ per model).

I don't know if there is any way to make it configurable..
the behaviour I'm observing right now is that:

• you set them into the mqtt config message
• I set them into the yaml
• the UI shows error when trying to go above (or below) your settings

so I would end up saying that config message "wins" here

Today: as P1P2MQTT-bridge-v0.9.54rc1-Daikin-F.ino.bin.

Default settings is now min 16C, max 32C, for cooling and heating, and reconfigurable using parameters P35-P38. I would recommend to remove the min/max settings from yaml.
